What’s the Difference?
On Sunday, January 8, 2012, Calvary Bible Church will begin a new series exploring the differences between world religions, Christianity, and various denominations of Christianity. Some of the key questions we will cover are:
- Is there a difference?
- Are we all worshiping the same God?
- Is truth a matter of personal opinion?
Please join us! This is designed for people who don’t already attend church. Here are some answers to questions you may have about this series:
When does this series begin? The series begins on Sunday, January 8 at 10:30 a.m.
Who is this class for? Anyone. Non-church attenders, church-attenders, Christians and non-Christians will find this class informative and interesting.
Where do I go for this class? The class meets in our church building. You can click here for a map and directions. It will be held at the north end of our building. That’s the part of our building that is made of red brick, has a black roof, and a white steeple over the door. Go there and you will find the class. Or, enter any door of our church and look for signs pointing you toward the class. There will be ushers near every entrance who can help you find it, too.
Do I have to sing, say anything, or sign anything? No. This class is not like our Sunday worship services, so there is no singing or music of any kind. Although you are welcome to visit our Sunday worship services, you are also welcome to come at 10:30 when the class begins and leave when the class ends. No one will bother you, ask you to fill out anything, ask you to stay for our worship services, or anything else like that.
Do I need to dress up? No. Wear what is comfortable. You will probably see someone dressed like you are, no matter what you choose to wear.
Who is teaching this class? The class will be taught by our Senior Pastor, Brian Jones. Brian has studied Christianity and other world religions for many years, accumulating a bachelor’s degree, two master’s degrees, and a doctorate along the way, so he knows plenty about this subject.
Is this series a series of sermons? No. This is not a preaching series; it is a class and the information covered in it will be given in a classroom style with a notebook that you can use to record what you learn and keep for yourself. There will usually be time to ask questions and get them answered. This class is not part of our Sunday worship services, so it has a completely different format from our church worship services.
Is there childcare available? Yes. Bring your children; we have a clean, well-staffed nursery for children from babies to toddlers and classes for everyone from age 2 up.
Can I attend the worship service if I want to? Yes! We offer two Sunday worship services with somewhat different musical styles but the same sermon in each. Click here for more information about our worship services, including service times and descriptions or see our welcome page for all that information and more.
What does Calvary Bible Church believe? We are a Biblical, Christian church, so we believe what the Bible says Christians should believe. For a much more detailed description of our beliefs than that, click here.
I don’t want to get any more mailings from Calvary. Can I get off your mailing list? Yes, please contact us and we will do our best to exclude you from any future mailings. We apologize for sending you unwanted mail. Click here for our phone number and instructions on how to email us.
