If you’re following the schedule, you should read these chapters today: Genesis 27, Matthew 26, Esther 3, Acts 26. Click on any of those references to see all the passages in one long page on BibleGateway. If you can't do all the readings today, read Matthew 26.
As the passion week continued for Christ, he visited the home of “Simon the leper” according to verse 6. While he was eating, a woman anointed him with a “very expensive perfume.” The reaction of Christ’s followers was strong: “Why this waste?” they asked. “This perfume could have been sold at a high price and the money given to the poor” (vv. 8b-9). What was Christ’s reason for defending her act? What does this passage suggest about giving to God?
