If you’re following the schedule, you should read these chapters today: Genesis 28, Matthew 27, Esther 4, Acts 27. Click on any of those references to see all the passages in one long page on BibleGateway. If you can't do all the readings today, read Genesis 28.
Genesis 28:20-22 says, “Then Jacob made a vow, saying, ‘If God will be with me and will watch over me on this journey I am taking and will give me food to eat and clothes to wear so that I return safely to my father’s household, then the Lord will be my God and this stone that I have set up as a pillar will be God’s house, and of all that you give me I will give you a tenth.’” Jacob’s promised to serve God and give God a tithe (a tenth, 10%) IF God did certain things for him: be with him, watch over him, give him food and clothing and a safe return. Do you think his vow shows faith or lack of faith? Post your thoughts about this (and why you think the way you do) in the comments below or on our Facebook page. And, feel free to answer and interact with the questions and comments of others. Have a great day; we'll talk scripture again tomorrow.
